Your opinion is very important to determine and analyze the possible system of Solar conversion in open currency markets and its ratio to the main fully convertible currencies chosen by Asgardians for this purpose.

I believe that bitcoin would be the great currency option for Asgardia, due to the fact that our citizens reside in several countries, bitcoin would greatly facilitate the business in Asgardia.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
That's not a bad idea. Even if Asgardia creates its own currency, it should be digital and based on block chain.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
Actual we could make are own crypto-currency, based off bitcoin. Now I won't get to technical but the things if we ever made to space, it would still have value on earth. The only problem is in space, it would only take a solar burst too wipe the system and ...

As quantum computers are being developed, I am not sure about using a crypto-currency. Who would mine it ? I am not sure.... But I like the idea of decentralized money. It's hard to choose the right solution :)
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
I agree with using a crypto-currency, however I don't think Bitcoin is the right fit. It's an inherently unstable commodity that fluctuates wildly in value. A nation shouldn't base their financial system on something like that. There are several other significantly more stable crypto-currencies we could use such as Ven ...

If Asgardia, has its own currency based on blocks (Crypto-currency). I recommend using a CryptoNote system. Like the Monero. It seems more certain, and of a certain aspect, an evolution of Bitcoin. But leaving a little aside, which system to use. Which name would be chosen for our currency. Anyone ...

I think we should create our own currency. (Prefered to be a crypto-currency) but crypto-currency Bitcoin is fairly unstable. And alot of people have thousands of them. (Wealthier than our government at that point.)
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
The market variations, is due to the size of it. That is, the larger the market, the smaller the variations will be. Or rather, they will not be felt. It's like comparing a falling stone to a glass of water, and a stone falling into the ocean. But I see ...

Its sort of hard to base currency at the moment on gold, work force or research? but we could base it on a decentralised system like bit coin but have based on network or file storage like filecoin. That way we can test and prefect it now, ready for the future.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
It is a bad idea to use Bitcoin as asgardian currency, it has been used for drug trade, pedophilia and other nasty things. We need a new currency with a clean slate.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
I agree with Kivok, and also with Kronos ^^ We need a different currency than Bitcoin. But we can use the structure of Bitcoin, to create a new currency. If all the Asgardians agree to use the crypton Asgardian coin. We altomatically, we will have appreciation, and demand and consumption ...

I would prefer that any currency we create be based on energy production and usage. The calculations for bitcoin and related currencies are not based on anything other than computer cycles. Those computer cycles don't even have to be used for anything productive. A computer sitting in the corner calculating bitcoins ...

In agreement with CDNeely. Hadn't heard of Solarcoin. Gonna give it a look! Based on your description Ven (ven.vc) does something similar.

If there was a vote on the proposed topic instead of voting to choose a flag, my vote would be NO, bitcoin is not for Asgardia, nor the Dollar, nor any other currency. We must have our own currency or have none.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
I definitely think we should have our own currency. Whether or not we should have it digital is another thing. Could we also have the currency on the stock market so the strength and value of our money will be stronger perhaps against another currency. I am sure we will ...

I agree using blockchain technology to build a new currency but I do not agree using bitcoin as offical, I will list my reason below. Bitcoin is 'old' and a lot of nonasgardian have access to it, which is not a good thing. Since a lot of non-asgardian have access ...

I think it's early to think about a currency. Main to the fact that our technology is developing so fast, in few decades we may have so much technological unemployment that currencies would be obsolete... just maybe. Instead it would be good to set a variable quantity of credits to ...

The cryptocoins can be used as a kind of mining resource like gold or silver, but in the future we will need real money really recognized by the international community.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC
I must agree that it's very early to think about currency, especially since we don't have an economy. Let us trade in dollar, euros, gold, silver, bitcoins and whatever, until Asgardia is able to support and economy of some stability.
Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC

There ought be no official currency, but if there must be then Bitcoin or another crypto-currency would be the way. So long as you do not mandate one currency over another but let all currencies compete instead, there will be no problem.

Bitcoin is a very unstable currency, and I think that's already a good reason to not use it. Besides, it's an earthling currency (and it's basically failed). I believe we should creat Asgardia's own currency too. Best regards, Martine.

@core yeah but it's value fluctuates wildly I think we should use something similar to Bitcoin like Asgardian credit

Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC

I don't like Bitcoin. I think it is a bad idea cause it's often used for criminal activities. We should make our own crypted currency.

Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC

BitCoin is not sutable as it can not be influenced by the govenment. We can create any electronic currency but it should be posible to manipulate it by government acts. Say issue, emit.

Jun 24, 01 / Jun 13, 17 09:25 UTC

No, it couldn´t.

It was already officialy announced by our officials Asgardia will develop our own cryptocurrency. There is also poll regarding the name of it.

I agree using Bitcoin or crypto currency as the currency for Asgardians
